French fries dipped in milkshakes. Eucalyptus scented towels. Water infused with crystals. Samsung and Netflix. Some combos play off each other in particularly enhancing ways.
In the latest Samsung and Netflix spot, the offerings of the software and the digital streamer augment the experience of using the two seamlessly, demonstrating the brands’ deep partnership. It took less than six weeks to develop the spot from brief to premiering at Samsung’s Annual Unpacked Event. The spot was ultimately shot in South Korea, featured American talent living in South Korea, and was remotely directed by Kyle Newacheck in the comfort of his own living room, in step with Side Street Creative’s ECD, Walter May. The story follows a guy who is empowered through fulfilling a mountain of tasks by linking his Samsung devices with Netflix.
With Kyle’s clever directing, the spot captures the unique capabilities of newly launched Samsung devices in concert with Netflix’s exclusive content. He uses a Galaxy Note 20 5G to send outfits inspired by watching Queer Eye, and he uses Galaxy Buds Live to lock into Chef’s Table while cooking a delicious meal. The campaign has already received a global viewership exceeding 10 million views.
Check out the behind the scenes look at Kyle’s remote directing below, and next time someone suggests Netflix prevents productivity, show them just how educational it can be.
